Ifo Unity and Reconciliation Tournament Successfully ended in a Historic Display of Peace, Unity, and Youth Engagement..
The Ifo Unity and Reconciliation Section-Based Tournament has officially concluded successfully and peacefully, marking a major milestone in restoring harmony, cooperation, and structured sportsmanship within Ifo Camp, Dadaab Refugee Complex.
The final match brought together two strong teams, “Section B and Section N” in a highly competitive and disciplined encounter witnessed by an estimated crowd of more than 5,000 spectators.
Section N emerged victorious after defeating Section B by one goal to nil (1:0), becoming the champions of this historic reconciliation tournament.
The tournament attracted the presence of key leaders and stakeholders, including the Dadaab Town Chief, FKF representatives, DARLON top leadership, Ifo Youth Umbrella officials, and Ifo Games and Sports leadership, demonstrating broad institutional and community support for peacebuilding through sports.
This important initiative was generously supported by former refugee youth from Ifo currently living in the diaspora, reflecting the growing commitment of refugee communities abroad to invest in peace, youth empowerment, and community development back home.
The tournament began successfully and concluded peacefully without any security incident reported, serving as a powerful example of how sports can effectively promote reconciliation, social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, youth engagement, and community resilience.
At the closing ceremony, the winning team, Section N, was awarded a trophy, medals, footballs, and sports uniforms, while the runners-up, Section B, received medals, footballs, and sports uniforms in recognition of their outstanding performance and sportsmanship.
In addition, best-performing players and outstanding contributors were recognized and motivated by the tournament management for their exceptional talent, discipline, commitment, and contribution toward the success of the event.
#DARLON, through its Games & Sports Directorate, remained at the forefront throughout the entire reconciliation and tournament process, working closely with community leaders, sports officials, and stakeholders to restore normality, strengthen unity, and ensure peaceful coordination of all activities.
